The winds had stopped howling.

Consciousness returned to her body slowly as she cautiously flexed each joint, checking for breaks. She blinked once, twice, and shakily rose to perch on her knees, rubbing the sand from her eyes with sore and cramping knuckles as more grains cascaded from her hair and clothing.

Her back cracked harshly as she attempted to stand, only to have a similar sensation occur in her knees as she fell to the ground once again; she was far too disoriented to walk yet.

As she steadied her equilibrium, she tried to remember how she’d come to be half-buried in a sand dune. She remembered the swirling, shrieking cyclones that had sprung up from absolutely nowhere and unceremoniously flung her about like a broken doll after carrying here away from...where? Her vision cleared and at last she was able to see the shining golden sand. She examined her hands, her knees, and the ratty tunic that just barely survived the lashing the weather gave her. Nothing felt familiar.

Unease welled in her throat as she tried to recall something...anything about where she’d come from. She tried to still her erratic heartbeat, closing her eyes and forcing herself to think.

Nefertari.

“What?”

The sound of her own voice startled her, parched and rattling with dry thirst.

“Nefertari,” she spoke aloud, her voice tiny in the incredible silence of the arid wasteland around her, “...that’s my name?”

Yes. That felt right. Even though her surroundings, her clothing, her own body were feeling increasingly amiss, that lone name felt familiar and almost comforted her.

The shaking in her legs had ebbed away, and slowly she stood, holding herself tightly, as if she might shatter with the coming of the slightest breeze. She headed off in the direction opposite the sun, her mind on water, shade, and strangely enough...gemstones.
Name: Nefertari.
Nickname: Nari.
Age: 19.
Gender: Female.
Species: Cofagrigus.
Type: Ground.
Familiar: Hehet. Because she has an extremely hard time moving (as she is essentially a sentient slab of stone) she likes to fit herself into the comfiest corner of any dwelling space and claim it. She isn't particularly friendly and will bite if pestered. Her body is hollow-like a coffin-and she stores stolen goods inside.
Moveset:
• Scary Face
• Skill Swap
• Sand Tomb (Astonish)
• Bonemerang (Hex)
Ability: Sand Stream

History: As a Yamask, Nefertari’s first home was a nearly-buried set of ancient ruins deep in a vast desert. Yamasks were once human beings, but unlike most of her species, she retained no memories from her previous life. She lived rather apathetically for most of her pre-evolution life, until she was caught by a nomadic man named Amir. Amir was a notorious thief and conman who lived under a slew of aliases, and he quickly involved Nefertari in his many schemes and cons. Amir’s philosophy was simple; the meaning of life was prosperity. Prosperity through riches meant that you could buy whatever you wanted, travel wherever you pleased, and impress whoever required it. He taught her that wealth was the key to happiness, and she believed him with everything she had. Amir had been around twenty-two when he first caught Nefertari and when he was thirty-four, she evolved into a Cofagrigus. They continued living a peaceful life of crime on the outskirts of an oasis town, until Amir was around seventy. He’d lost his speed and agility over the years and the authorities finally caught him halfway between his hideaway and the oasis town. He died in jail before he could receive a trial, leaving Nefertari all alone with his trove of stolen goods, which she guarded fiercely. A year or so following Amir’s death, an incredible sandstorm destroyed the oasis town and completely buried Amir’s treasure. It picked Nefertari up into its swirling winds and tossed her violently, carrying her all the way from the middle of the desert to worlds unknown, eventually dropping her in the desert region of Tarpaulin.

Personality:
• Airhead; amused by dust and tumbleweeds; oblivious-natured. Speaks slowly and simply. Doesn't excite easily except at the sight/promise of money or jems.
• Socially awkward due to said airheadedness; nobody can really keep her attention. Doesn't make friends often but she doesn't really mind.
• Incredibly greedy; considers wealth/priceless items to be on the same level of importance as food and water. Has thieving tendancies but isn't really a skilled thief due to lack of stealth and speed. Obsession with treasure stems from a fear and past experiences.
