Childhood: Caia, like the other Schiff, was created in the Khirbet laboratory. She escaped alongside her fellows and did not play a very major role in the series until the Christina Island arc, where she becomes one of the last four remaining Schiff. Her closeness with Karman is revealed then, and while the two seem to be inching towards a romantic bond, she believes he actually has feelings for Moses. After Karman and Moses commit suicide, she and Lulu become remarkably close. Caia realized that as only a Schiff, she couldn't contribute as much as she would liked to have. She pressures David into using his limited knowledge of Julia's laboratory equippment to try and gradually merge Saya's blood with her own, without killing her, and it inadvertantly turns her into a chevalier (the first known female chevalier).
Recent Past/Present: As a chevaier, Caia is now able to live in the sunlight and enjoys living peacefully in Okinawa with Kai, Lulu, and Diva's daughters.

~Alternate Storyline (in which Moses and Karman don't die)
Name: Liesel.
Appearance: Young woman around the age of seventeen with elbow-length red hair with a wavy texture.
Clothing: Standard Schiff cloak; a long black hoodie (it reached her thighs) with skinny jeans and boots.
As with her original design, Caia did not initially play a large role among the Schiff until she became one of the last four left alive. She found herself falling in love with a fellow Schiff, Karman, and was very confused by her feelings as they were foreign to her. Due to the prompting of Kai, she confessed her feelings, only to be rebuffed by a very confused Karman. She was internally distraught and while she acted as if it didn't matter, her heart had broken a bit. Her body is breaking as well, as she secretly realizes, because she has contracted the Thorn. She conceals this from her companions.
Storyline 1: (in which Diva's personality more closely follows the manga.)
Caia and her fellows stumble onto a battle between Saya and Diva one day, and Diva takes notice of Caia's vibrant red hair. She decides that she wants to keep Caia, and sends Karl to knock her out and retrieve her, to the horror of those around her. Caia regains consciousness in a large hotel suite with the drapes drawn. Diva has been waiting for her to wake up, explaining that she'd like a female friend and has recruited Caia for the job. At first Caia fights to escape, not realizing that her strength has returned more fully than it ought to have until Diva, dodging with ease, points it out. To her utter shock, Caia discovers that she has been cured of the Thorn via Diva's blood. Diva seems quite pleased with herself and innocently says that she wants her friends to live. Caia then hatches a plan to convince Diva to abandon Amshel's ambitions and to save the lives of the other remaining Schiff.
Diva becomes so close to Caia (over the span of nearly a month and a half) that she eventually agrees and orders Amshel to stand down during the final battle, claiming that she is tired of being used as Amshel's toy and angrily telling him that it is he who is meant to serve her. In a fury, Amshel attacks Caia. They battle for some time and eventually Caia suffers a mortal injury. She falls into the sea, and it is unknown whether or not she survived.
Storyline 2:
After being rejected by Karman, Caia finds it extremely awkward and difficult to be around the other Schiff anymore. She joins up with Saya and Haji shortly after the Red Shield headquarters explodes, leaving her former companions under the impression she died. She travels with Saya for a year before accidentally revealing herself to the Schiff on Christina Island as she is locked in battle with James Ironside. At this same time she is also revealed to be severely afflicted with the Thorn. She ends up perishing not long after as Saya's sword runs through the both of them, crystallizing her.
